Bumping Up, and The Sky’s the Limit

Modern building materials liberate possibilities the builder may never have imagined.

You could move upstairs to where the loft is, open things up and create undying

views across the surrounding countryside. Imagine entertaining guests to alfresco

barbecues gazing over rooftops, or waking in the morning to timeless views.

Second Story Home Addition

The fun starts when the builders are gone and you begin to enjoy your new space. That new space could be for little kids to explore their environment and grow, and grownups to enjoy their hobbies and read books in a brilliantly inspiring environment.

5 Top Tips for Creative Kitchen

Redesigning a kitchen can be daunting unless we have a good idea where to start.  We may be unsure of price differences between various cabinet door designs, and different counter worktop materials in Halifax Nova Scotia. We know what we choose must go together and look good, but where to start …

Let’s Start with the Style We Want

Do we want a contemporary, traditional, or classic effect? Beach style is good, but
may not work in an older home where farmhouse could be the solution. We can
narrow down our preferences by paging through glossy magazines and visiting
websites such as Houzz, or we can simply google for example "contemporary
kitchen” and click the image tab.
Once we single out one or two possibilities, it is time to turn to the kitchen cabinets
next …

Cabinets – The Corner Stone of Good Kitchens

The kitchen cabinets we choose set the theme for the rest of the room. Do we want
beaded inserts or plain panels? Will the doors be in light wood with the upper level in
cottagestyle
glass? There is such a wonderful array to choose from in Halifax Nova
Scotia. However, we must stay with our preferred style or we will never make a
decision, let alone get around to the countertops …

Kitchen Countertops – Where Form and Function Meet

Kitchen countertops are where most of the action happens. They must naturally
attract us, and we must love the look. The trend in Halifax confirms a preference for
manufactured and natural stone. Both offer exciting choices in veining and colours.
Perhaps we should stick to the trend in case we decide to sell in a few years’ time.
Now the exciting part begins …

Backsplashes Are an Opportunity for Fun

Backsplashes are huge fun because we can express our individuality where the eye
falls naturally. Halifax Nova Scotia tile showrooms are currently displaying some of
the best variety we have seen. Choose the size and shape first, do you want square,
rectangular or linear to make the wall seem wider?
Be mindful of your countertop selection when choosing colours and textures,
because countertops are semipermanent,
now for the floor …

Kitchen Floors Make a ‘Crowning Statement’

Most kitchen floors represent the largest single area to decorate, so we must be
careful not to under or overdo things. Again, the range of choices in Halifax is huge.
Hardwood is back in fashion. On the other hand, the variety of tiles and composites
is incredible.
